The trains chugged along at a decent speed towards Innerpeace as the scenery on the vehicle whizzed past at an incredible speed. A large figure sat in the conductor's engine room, sitting on the edge of the window and looking out, letting his trench coat flap in the speeding, freezing winds.
Feels good. The figure thought. He could finally close his eyes and relax, trying to forget about everything that had ever happened. Except... there was no pain. Jake couldn't get used to it. Ever. He had been in pain for so much of his life and now... well, there was nothing left for him.
"Tsch." He grunted before lighting a cigerette in the cabin and then inhaling the smoke. At least one thing hadn't disappeared... Of course then he was sharply reminded of the reality of what was going on when an annoying voice popped up.
"You always smoke. It's still bad for you even at this day of age. Snuff it out before you explode something." Model Cm was there. Jake grunted and rolled his eyes.
"Quiet. I can do whatever." He then exhaled a cloud of smoke that exited the window. Something liable was to happen anyway. Of course none of the crew haven't come up with any issues in the train, nor the passengers.
They should be breaking soon, though, to stop the train, and refuel before going right into Innerpeace.

On the train as well was a certain woman, loose brown hair around her shoulders and dark green eyes. She was wearing a dull blue button up dress with a black overcoat and leather boots as she walked into the engine room. Her curiosity had gotten the better of her and she just had to come and take a look.
She silently looked at Jake as he seemingly spoke to her about not saying anything. "I wasn't going to say anything." She said calmly. "Though I must say that's not a good brand." She smiled softly and walked up to him, reaching into her pocket and withdrawing her own box. "Ever try this kind?" She leaned against the side of the window that Jake was sitting on, letting the wind grab her hair as she held the box out. She'd let Jake take one of the cigarettes inside to try.

Jake grunted when he heard a woman walk up. Typical. Just another woman. Granted he's probably going to wind up going on some romantic rollercoaster yet again. He then looked over and then silently flicked the barely finished cigarette out the window just as Model Cm groaned in Jake's trenchcoat pocket.
"Great Isaac Asimov. Why..." Jake adjusted his position so his hip would mash against the bimetal and into the wall.
"... I don't complain about the quality of anything." He took the cigarette and then lit it, offering to light Kristine's as well. "And you are...?

Kristine was unaware of Model Cm and that Jake's movement was a subtle method of silencing the biometal.
"Well, it never hurts to do an upgrade." She said, saying a thanks as Jake lit her own cigarette. "I'm Kristine. And you?" She asked as she too a drag and blew the smoke out the window, watching the wind grab the billow and yank it away.
The air about Kristine was hard to describe. It wasn't outwardly unfriendly, but it was still no nonsense and gave a vibe of mature competence. She seemed like the kind of woman to know what needed to be done and do anything necessary to see that it was; the kind of woman that could intimidate some people just with her presence.

Jake himself definitely had a distinctive feeling of intimidation. Anybody looking at him could tell that from his huge size and weight. Didn't mean he could still keep himself relaxed, as of right now the expression on his face conveyed boredom and casual nature. He inhaled and then breathed out smoke form the cigarette, as he vaguely heard fake coughing from Model Cm.
"... Mmn." Jake's baritone voice hit an incredibly low note there before he finally spoke up. "Name's Jake."
He then paused a moment to watch the scene as if flew by the landscape, enjoying the moment where he could hear the train as it chugged along. It felt really good to him to be able to hear it again... all he needed was a slice of cake. He looked back at Kristine, noting her nature quietly. She seemed to be a pretty supportive and serious type, though. That was totally his turn on.
"Pleasure to meet you."

It seemed that their respective intimidation scores either canceled each other out or repelled each other, making the intimidation waft like a cloud to anyone in the vicinity. Kristine's overall demeanor was relaxed as well as she focused on her cigarette and her new companion as the terrain zoomed by. She was unaware of Model Cm, as she was unable to hear him, or any biometal despite being one of the few scientists who could work with them.
Kris glanced to Jake as he hit a low baritone and smiled lightly, before turning to look out the window. "Nice to meet you, Jake." She said, knocking the ember off the end of her cigarette.
"Likewise." She said, turning away from the window again to look at Jake. "So, are you a passenger yourself, or are you the conductor?" She gestured to Jake's conductor's cap.

Jake himself slowly worked on the cigarette, breathing out the smoke slowly as he leaned back and sort of daydreamed. Nothing like the old times, after all. Of course he was done with it and didn't have much else he could do after all. No pain, no need to painkillers... life would be good if his friends were still around, but they weren't.
"I'm the conductor, yes. And you shouldn't be up here." He explained. "... What about your occupation?"
He clearly didn't feel the effort to boot the woman out. Plus it was kind of rude anyway. She'd be safe up here anyway unless random mavericks came up and ruined the day.

Kris chuckled as Jake told her she shouldn't be there. Well, he wasn't making a move to give her the boot, so...
"I'm a scientist." She said with a soft smile before taking another drag. "I primarily work with reploids and I also design and make the implants for humans. I also tinker a lot with normal machines. I also do a lot of research into various other things." She chuckled lightly. She would be safe in there if a maverick attacked, though she wasn't completely defenseless. Ever since Xe's untimely demise, Kris had taken the habit of packing heat in case of trouble, though her compact buster gun probably won't be much good against anything more than a common mugger or attacker.
She gave Jake a much closer inspection, taking in every fold of cloth and every blemish upon his face, if any. Something about this man had struck a nerve. He reminded her of Xe, a pleasant reminder. She felt comfortable, like she was around her old friend again, even though she had just met this stranger.

Cyborgs... now that was a sensitive subject. Jake chose to not talk about it though, nor make any move about it. The corner of his lip twitched in some strange manner before he took another breath of the cigarette. Either way, she seemed to be a valuable researcher and he didn't mind her around. After all, why not talk to geniuses anyway? Especially from this time to catch up if Stephen Hawking was right about matter. Or if they could study quarks on their own. Or other crazy quantum mechanic stuff.
"Engineering for me, and physics. My information is a little... outdated, though." Yeah, by 500 years, but he clearly looked like he was never going to elaborate on that now. Jake shifted in his seat again, Model Cm just staying quiet bar the occasional comment about Jake trying to flirt as per usual.
Jake would smack him, but that would be crazy looking in front of the lady, so he didn't.

Wait until Jake found out that all humans could be classified as 'cyborgs' now. Even Kris had some robotic implants of her own. Kristine babied her cigarette, tapping off the excess embers as she needed. "Outdated?" She asked curiously. "You use some old textbooks?" Little did she know that 'outdated' implied about 500 years. Though Physics didn't change all that much, engineering might have.
Kris glanced up to Jake as they talked. The more she looked at him, the more he looked like he was in the same general age bracket as she was. Of course, she couldn't hear biometals, so Cm's snarky comments fell on deaf ears with her.
"So, where you come from? You live in innerpeace?" She inquired. He was on a train for a reason. Either he was going somewhere, or he had been there and was on his way home. Maybe she could bring him home for dinner and get another daddy figure in Alex's life!

Jake knew it, just that he didn't know they were considered humans still and that reploids were also the same. He's still, like Alki, a bit behind on the times and probably needed a little bit of guidance so he knew the culture of the future. He then finished off his cigarette and flicked it out of the train window.
"you can say I used old textbooks." THough it was funny to him. there were hardly any books, just file systems and professors who memorized everything. Either way, he wouldn't explain to Kristine that he was from the past.
Of course, looking at Kristine, he wondered if she was good lay was even interested in him. Seemed like it though. She did ask where he lived though. Hm.
"I don't really live anywhere, but I am trying to find a place to live in Innerpeace." He explained. Plus, his train was his home and his true love, sorry girls.

Well, there was no one better or more available than Kris here for that kind of teaching.
Kristine would be a little skeptical about Jake's claim, but if she spoke to him some, she might be a little more willing to believe him, seeing he might be rather clueless about everyday things.
She looked at Jake as he looked at her, and she wondered what he was thinking. He was an interesting person, and she wouldn't mind getting to know him. After all, she didn't have many friends outside of the workplace, and even then, the only person she trusted was Alex. And even THEN...
"Oh? Well, forgive me if this seems forward, but I'm... with a small company that works on robotic research, software developing, and overall inventiveness." She said, not admitting that she owned 50% of the company. "The company is hiring and we could always use a bright mind. We're stationed in Innerpeace." She reached into her coat pocket and pulled out a card. She scribbled something on the back and handed it to Jake. It was a Xentech business card with the comm number and address of the building. The back was written in clean cursive letters: 'Kristine Ennertel'. Just a signature?
"If you decide to pop by, show that to the receptionist." She smiled. She had a good feeling about this guy. He reminded her of Xe. She finished her own cigarette and leaned against the window, letting the wind grab her hair.

Well, if Kristine tried to read Jake's thoughts she'd probably be offended and/or go insane from his thoughts. They were a jumbled up mix of painful anguish and ANGST ANGST ANGST bad memories. Either way, him reminding her of Xe was completely coincidental. His eyes slowly rolled toward when she spoke up, and then handed her a card.
"... Hm." Jake raised his brow. Forward? That was pretty forward to him, though. He looked down at it, rolling it with his fingers, before he finally looked back up.
"You do seen very forward with me, sweetheart." He spoke up, playing a little bit. "Like you seem to find some sort of... trust or good memory around me."

Kristine looked out at the scenery as Jake examined the card. Sure, she was being forward, but scientists of any kind were tricky to come by, and apparently this one didn't already have a job lined up. While she wouldn't admit that the reason she was being so IMMENSELY forward was because she wanted to hire him before anyone else could; she was also rather fond of him in the VERY short span she spoke with him. She had a habit of making opinions of people quickly, and Jake earned a positive, albeit peculiar one.
Kris laced her fingers and put her elbows on the sill of the window. "Is there a problem with that, hun?" She replied with an equal familiarity in return for Jake calling her 'sweetheart'. She smiled and laughed lightly as Jake hit the nail on the head, though she didn't reply right away.
"Well, regardless of my motives, Jake." She smiled. "We still have a few hours left before we hit Innerpeace. Care to chat more over some coffee in the dining car?" Come on Jake, free coffee with your future sex partner, what was there to lose except maybe an hour or two of sleep from caffeine?

Well, Kristine was pretty lucky to be the opposite gender of Jake, then. He's pretty fond of ladies either way and this young woman would have a very formidable angsty guy as her bodyguard. He then leaned back and looked out the window.
"No, not a problem." He smirked, mostly to himself. He then looked back before double taking to Kristine.Coffee? A chat? ... Well, maybe. Should he leave the front area? His shift should be done so he can throw it at the nearest conductor.
He looked at his watch before speaking up. "I have a few minutes till lunch break, so I can head up then before the other person comes up for their shift."
