Her face getting a darker shade of red, Kris shifted nervously, really not sure how to proceed about this. She had never really taken time for relationships! She was always so busy. Sure, she had a few friends with benefits, and maybe one or two 'boyfriends', but nothing really...real. Now confronted with this, she found herself at a complete and utter loss. She stayed quiet for a moment, until Jake commented on the redundancy of it.
"I'm your boss, I can be redundant if I want to." She answered without missing a beat. There's the old Kris.
She remained silent a little bit longer, and began playing with a strand of her hair. "....There is a lot more I want to say, but I'm having trouble finding the words. And...even if I had the words, I wouldn't know how to say it." She sighed slightly, running her hand through her hair.

The corner of Jake's lip twitched up into a grin when she saw she was getting nervous. Jake himself, unlike Kristine, had more experience with these kinds of personal relationships, having dated in High School and College, developing a romantic bond with Lila, Lyra, and maybe even Elsa. He knew he might as well give her a bit of time to decide what she truly wants. After all, romantic work relationship can either end happily or in disaster.
"Whatever you say, boss." Jake chuckled, throwing a bit of a Brooklyn accent in the mix. Though he figured Kristine wouldn't get the old reference Jake was making but the RPers would.
He went silent when she spoke up. So she can't spit it out. Jake thought for a moment, on what exactly he should do. He then looked up at her again, shifting his position to face directly at her and then said just a few words.
"You know, actions speak louder than words."

Even if Kris didn't get the reference, the accent made Jake sound funny enough to win a small laugh from her at the least. She was nervous, but maybe she should just...? Last time she let herself fall for someone, she never really acted on it, watching from a distance. She never got the chance to tell Xe the truth, and he died before she could.
If Kris did anything, it was never making the same mistake twice. She tried not to, anyway.
"You're right, they do." She answered and, steeling her resolve, she forced herself to shake off whatever it was that was rooting her to the ground and take a step forward, set her slight weight on one of Jake's knees, lean forward, and kiss that crazy psycho bodyguard she had let herself fall in love with.

Jake didn't mind her laughing, it meant he was still funny. Even if his accent isn't from the Bronx or any of those places. New York is long dead anyway, and probably the mob. Thank goodness for that. Jake himself wondered if this even was allowed, but this was the future. Ideals on work relationships probably changed.
Plus it gives Kris the advantage that Jake will probably go to hell and back to save her. Either way, she spoke up, and then leaned forward on his knee. Despite the height difference, Jake met her kiss and wrapped his arms around her.
Nothing needed to be said.
